Happy Halloween!

It appears that Henry did not have his DNA test done this past week. I do know that one of the families we think we'll be traveling with did have a DNA test done on their child. Maybe we'll have our turn next week?

The weather has finally turned to fall out here. Today is our first day of rain, or should I say spotty drizzle. It's a nice change from the heat. It's been so warm this past month that my plumeria plant is still blooming!

Have a nice weekend!

It's there!

The DNA kit made it to Hanoi at 4:02 pm today! (VN time)
Sure hope we hear that they'll be testing next week! The clinic only does the tests on Thursdays. Please keep a quick test with a positive outcome in your prayers!

We got more clothes for Henry this week. Jenny, my cousin, sent us some warm clothes that her son William has outgrown. Lots of long sleeved shirts and pants, which we will most definitely need as we are approaching winter. Thank you SO much, Jenny and Will!!

We've added a few more things to the wall in Henry's room. Since we have two dogs is only seemed right to put up these dog leash holders as little hooks so he can hang up his stuff.

How cute are these?

i600 receipt

It's a good morning!

Acknowledgment of Receipt

Dear Mr/Ms. Wiedenmann,

This office is in receipt of your Form I-600, Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative. Your petition and supporting evidence will be reviewed by USCIS to determine whether the child named qualifies as an orphan. In certain cases it may be concluded that an administrative field inquiry or a request for evidence is necessary to make that determination. Most determinations will be completed in 60 working days.

You will be notified by mail as soon as this determination has been completed.

AND

Dear Mr./Ms. Wiedenmann:

The USCIS office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, is in the process of reviewing your Petition to Classify Orphan as an Immediate Relative (Form I-600), to determine whether the child qualifies as an orphan under US immigration law. To facilitate the processing of your petition this office is requesting that DNA testing be done to establish a paternal relationship between the prospective adoptive child (beneficiary) and the biological parent.

So now we arrange for the DNA test and do some more WAITING!!

The Stroller

We haven't received our acknowledgement yet, and that is probably due to the holiday last Monday. It's 10pm in Vietnam right now so we don't expect it to show up anytime before next week.

Did anyone watch "The Office" last night? I had to laugh during all of the stroller scenes...there is a much bigger world of strollers than I could have ever imagined. Who would ever pay so much money for a stroller???

It all started with my friend, Erika. Each time I saw her she would have a new stroller and new diaper bag. There are Yahoo groups one can join to discuss these items as well as buy/sell them. There are web sites (www.strollerqueen.com )and stroller consultants! Who knew?! Erika hooked me up with a friend of hers who gave me some good tips, and I was able to narrow down my options. I originally thought I'd just go to Target and get one when the time was right...but I've changed!
I'm NOT a member of the stroller group or anything, but I did choose a pretty good stroller and got it over half off retail price.

The stroller has an adjustable handle, rear suspension, and an adjustable seat, among many other features. I can push it with one finger, seriously!
Here it is:

Rain and wind shield!

I may take Kelly and Cody for a spin in it every now and then until we get Henry!
Have a nice weekend!

10

Happy 10 months, Henry!!

This morning we received our copy of the i600 paperwork that was sent to Vietnam last week. There is a picture of Henry at 3 months...first time we saw his little feet! Adorable, of course! There are other documents including a letter from his birth mother as well as a picture of her. I really hope that we have the chance to meet her! She's beautiful. I cannot imagine what she is going through.

We learned that Henry's ethnicity is Nung. Click HERE for a pretty good website.

Fingerprinting went fine yesterday. We were the only people there...that has to be a first for an immigration office in Southern California! We were out of there in less than 10 minutes!

We're still waiting for an acknowledgment from USCIS in Vietnam stating they received our paperwork. Maybe tomorrow!

More waiting!

Here is what happens now:
1) We wait to hear from USCIS in Vietnam that they have received our i600 paperwork.(we expect to receive this email at the end of the week or early next week)
2) They begin their investigation by either traveling to the province OR requesting a DNA test for Henry and his birth mother. (My guess is that they will request this test)
3) If they request the test, a DNA kit is sent to Hanoi from the US. Then our agency goes to Lang Son to pick up Henry, his nanny and his birth mom. They travel together to Hanoi for the test. The kit is then sent back to the US for analysis, and the results are sent to VN. Then we will hopefully hear the words "it's a match" and our date for travel will be set. From start to finish this process can happen in about 3-4 weeks.

There is still hope that we can bring home Henry before the holidays. What an amazing gift that would be!!!

Mark and I are off to be fingerprinted this morning. Our prints expire in December.

I'll keep you all posted on our progress!

i600 is finally on the way!!!

We got the most wonderful email this morning!!!!

Your i-600 is going to be sent to Vietnam today! Your copies will be sent to you today or tomorrow via Priority Mail….

HOORAY!!!

What this means is that the Vietnamese government has said that Henry is our baby! Now we just need the US government to agree. Once they do, we can go pick him up and bring him home!

We are in the final countdown to getting Henry!

Please continue to keep Henry and this process in your prayers! They've been helping!

We have to have the nicest friends in the whole world!!!
Henry is sure going to be well dressed!
We got these adorable outfits along with some books from Lisa and John!

thank you, thank you!

Then last night, Cindi and Greg lent us a container filled with baby clothes that their son has outgrown. Since we have no idea how big Henry is going to be, it's really nice to have a variety of sizes to take over there with us.

thank you, thank you!

We are still waiting to file!

For you, Henry

Godspeed
by Radney Foster

Dragon tales and the "water is wide"
Pirate's sail and lost boys fly
Fish bite moonbeams every night
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

The rocket racer's all tuckered out
Superman's in pajamas on the couch
Goodnight moon, will find the mouse
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

God bless mommy and match box cars
God bless dad and thanks for the stars
God hears "Amen," wherever we are
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Godspeed
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

Could we be next?

We have to be SO close! Two families with June referrals (like us!) filed their i600s last week, one on Tuesday and another on Friday. In fact, we have the same referral date (6/19) as one of them.

Then this morning I heard that two other families received approval to travel to go get their babies!

Asking for more prayers!!!

Kelly's Got the Blues

I took our sweet dogs to "the spa" last week for a little grooming. They came home looking and smelling wonderful! Of course this lasts for only a short time, but this had to be the shortest yet!

Their way to lose the good smell is to roll in the grass. Cody's was fairly harmless, just a little rubbing in the lawn.

As you know we live on campus of school, and the football team just had a game. (freshly painted lines and numbers on the field)
Kelly was running around field, as usual, and rolling in the grass. I took my eyes off of her for a minute. So much for the spa treatment!
