You, Henry or Me?

There is a song we sing that goes something like this:
Someone has (a car on his shirt), who could it be?
Someone has (a car on his shirt), whoop, it's ...then I wait for Henry to say "me".
Today when I was changing his diaper I started singing:
Someone has a wet diaper, who could it be?
Someone has a wet diaper, whoop, it's .... but Henry didn't say "me" so I said it for him.
He shook his head, said no, and pointed at himself and said "Henry"...
So I said, "you have the wet diaper" and he said "no, me...Henry"
Very cute!
I think he's beginning to get it!

He brought this home from school today and immediately wanted to hang it on the door!
So of course we did!

He painted it while wearing the gloves... I especially love the upside-down hat!

Mama Get Up!

Henry has a little game on the refridgerator that plays four songs, but he is only interested in listening to and dancing to two of them. So he'll press the play button until the good songs cycle back again. He likes Oh Suzanna and She'll be Coming around the Mountain. He did this for about 20 minutes today. He likes it when I dance with him, too!

26 months

Henry, another month just flew by! There are two lines in your Tales from the Tracks book that make you giggle every time you see them. Percy is telling the other trains that he saw a dragon, which is actually a paper dragon for the parade. James says, You are off your... tracks! You always look up when I start reading this line. I can see the anticipation building as I read ... you love to say the word tracks followed by a major giggle. The other line is "you look as busy as a.....bee" You love to say bee .

You also LOVE to look through your Thomas the Train catalogue and look for "goldbug" in one of your books.

After every nap and in the morning when you get up you bring your blanket, four stuffed dogs and your hedgehog out of the room with you, handing them to us one by one.

You LOVE to race cars with your dad and actually enjoyed watching part of the Daytona 500 Nascar race this weekend. Whenever you see a red car you say "Dada's red race car". You like to line up all of your cars and trucks, and we race them around the coffee table.

You lie down in your bed and pretend to sleep sometimes...you even pretend to snore!

When it's time to leave the house I say, "let's go." You say, "rock n roll."

You are doing a lot of counting these days... "one, two, eight, nine, ten" and you love to be on the computer!

When we go to the playground on campus you get so excited when you see the other kids. You go running over to them and try to join in the game. Yesterday you played basketball with Charlie and Jack. Then Grace gave you a ride on the skateboard.

You like to pile all of your trucks on top of each other, as if they have crashed. You take our hands to guide us to the site, and you show us what happened. You say "oh no..." Then you gently take them all apart.

You are getting really good at solving puzzles and like to go though your number and color flashcards.

You have completely lost interest in using the potty! We're hoping when you see the kids leave playtime to go to the bathroom at school it will inspire you.

Henry, we just love you SO much!!!

Our weekend was nice. We went to a Tet Festival in Garden Grove to celebrate the Vietnamese New Year. 2010 is the Year of the Tiger! You loved riding on the merry-go-round and eating mung bean ice cream. You also got the coolest bubble blower you've ever seen!

don't they look like they could be related?

the adorable children receiving awards at the festival

the heart tree where we hung a love note

We all love the Vietnamese food we've tasted. Henry is diggin' that mung bean ice cream! He couldn't shovel it in fast enough.

We had heart shaped pancakes for breakfast on Valentine's Day followed by church and the beach. The waves were fairly large, but that didn't stop you from wanting to jump right in.

You are our special guy, and we love you!

Valentine's Party

Henry had his preschool Valentine's Day party today! It was so cute seeing all the munchkins in their red outfits. Energy was high when I went to pick him up. We now have our very first Henry made valentine hanging on our door.

Henry took time to carefully look at and try to read each card he received from his classmates.

On the way out each of the kids got to pick a balloon to take home. Here is how cool Henry is: We were walking to the car with the balloon. As soon as he got into his carseat the balloon popped. He looked at what was left... and laughed! I told him we'd get him another one later today, and he said "another red one". You are one of a kind, Henry!

how did he know to look to the side?

We just returned from the Vietnamese Language and Culture Club's Tet Festival at UCLA. Henry had a blast, as usual. We met some nice students, ate some very good food, and enjoyed part of a play. We left early because it was getting late and someone was getting very antsy.
We're hoping to head to an even bigger festival next weekend for the actual start of Tet.
As we were walking on campus toward the event we asked Henry if he wanted to go to college at UCLA, he said "no". On the way back to the car we asked him the same question and this time he gave us an "uh huh"! Must have been all the fun he had!

past 7

For the third time this week, Henry has slept in. I'm loving the extra time in morning to lounge before we start racing cars, coloring or building towers. It's a rainy day so we are going to finish Henry's valentine cards and maybe go to the mall for a little shopping later today.

Last night when Henry was in bed he sang for awhile. He sings "me, me, me..." in various tones. After he sang he said, very clearly, "night night, mama"
This morning he sat at the table and said "oop (soup) pease (please)" ... he thinks anything that comes in a bowl is soup.

Yesteday he was SO excited to get to school! He pretends my letter cookie cutters box is his briefcase that he takes to work/school with him.

He is requesting two jumbo brown eggs for lunch so I should get crackin'
(it's always two and he actually almost always finishes them!)
