Happy Birthday, Henry!!!

We had a fun celebration last night with Henry's campus buddies and friends Zachary, Henley, Justin, Madison and Kelly. About 30 people in all filled our house and shared this special day with Henry.
Henry woke up to balloons, a race car cake (which was one of mom's late night projects), and one of his gifts...a battery operated Percy train. This train kept him busy for a good part of the day. Friends arrived at 5:00 for cake, and Henry was sound asleep at 8:00. He did get his musical caboose, which was his BIG birthday present request for many weeks!

Henry is growing...he weighs 32 pounds (50th percentile) and is 38 1/2 inches tall (70th percentile). He wears size 10 shoes...it seems we buy new ones every three months or so. His sense of humor continues to be amazing...he loves to tell jokes, be silly, and laugh! Henry still loves his train, cars, and puzzles and is now interested in board games (Chutes and Ladders, Connect Four), mazes and computer/phone games. We sing Christmas songs every night before he goes to bed...Jingle Bells is his all time favorite. We say a prayer every night, too. He likes to pray for his friends and will say a few of their names each night.

Henry's voice is sweet, and he is talking more than ever. His favorite shows are Chuggington and The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. His favorite books include Curious George , Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and any others with cars or trains in them. His favorite foods are cheese pizza, apples and grapes, round cookies, ice cream sandwiches, noodles with butter and parmesan cheese only, deli turkey meat, juice, and milk. Henry will always offer you one of whatever he has on his plate...even if it is his favorite. He'll say "you have one" and will insist that you take it.

The afternoon nap is beginning to fade away. Henry is still not quite consistent with using the potty. Pull-ups and diapers are still on our shopping list but hopefully not for too much longer. Henry does well when given a choice, but can be very strong willed when he wants to be.
Even so, Henry is the most wonderful little boy we know! Happy Birthday, dear Henry! We love you!

Only one month before you turn 3!

Henry is becoming very independent!

When I ask if he'd like something or to do something I hear either "would love to" or "no hanks"
When Henry is waiting for something I hear "now Mama?"
When I ask him to come and look at something I hear, "what is it?"
He wants race car band-aids on most of his boo-boos.

We made our last visit to Disneyland with my annual pass...Henry met lots of Disney friends and rode his first rollercoaster!

Hanging out at the beach with your cousins, Katie and Mark

Henry loves to paint.

The other day Henry asked me to play race cars after dinner. I told him I would after I finish the dishes...he said, "help you, Mama" and he went to get his stool, climbed up to sink and started washing.

Everytime Henry askes for a piece of his Halloween candy he takes each piece out of the container, puts them on the table, and tells me he's "orting them". He takes one piece for himself, always gives one to me, and sets one aside for Daddy.

Thomas the Train

We took a little trip to visit Thomas the Tank Engine and go for a ride last Saturday in a town called Perris, CA. Henry got to ride on his very first real train. The fact that it was being pulled by Thomas the Tank Engine made it ever so much more exciting!

Looking for the train...

Waiting...

The train is big when you are standing this close.

Henry's first tattoo.

Who else but Henry the Engine.

It's always good to finish a day with an ice cream cone!

Trick or Treat

Henry was into Halloween this year. About a month ago I asked him what he would like to wear for a costume, and he said "choo choo train and Mama and Daddy choo choo train, too." So...I got to work. I made a Henry train for Henry, a Thomas train for Mark and a James tender for me. At school, Henry went along with the parade but wouldn't wear his engineering outfit along with the train, and he only put on the train when the parade music began. He did his obligatory two laps of the playground and proceded to take off his train.

At our potluck on campus, all the kids (even some big kids) were wearing costumes. Henry waited until he heard the words "trick or treat time" before putting on the train...then he was a trooper. His pumpkin was overflowing with goodies by the end of the night.
