Summer 2010

We've spent most of our summer in Wisconsin this year. We went to Jack, Isla, and Leah's baptism; my cousin's wedding, and spent a night in West Bend with my college roommates. Henry mangaged fairly well considering that he had to transition from his little room at home to a new room in WI, a hotel room for the wedding, and the guest room with me the night we saw the roommates. I learned that taking a two year old to a wedding was not a good idea...not enough get up and go happening for Henry's interest. He did look adorable in his little tie, though. When I pulled it out to put it on him he immediately said, "no tie, mama!".
We went to the zoo with Jack, Leah and Isla, and Henry went to his very first Brewer's baseball game...tailgating and all!
We spent a lot of time hangin out with Papa and Nana. Henry moved on from the tricycle to the training wheels. He likes to say "oh yeah" and "oh...thank you". Every now and then Henry said that he wants to go home, to his California home. I told him we'll go soon, and a moment later he'd say, "now?". He has even walked to the door telling me he is getting on the airplane.
We spent the last weekend of our trip in Cushing, Maine, visiting some of Mark's high school friends. Maine is beautiful, and Henry traveled very well!
Henry is now 2.8 months...he has grown so much!
He wears size 9 1/2 shoes, tried corn on the cob, gives me hugs and tells me he loves me or misses me, has endless energy, and makes us smile all the time.

Independence Day

It was a wonderful day indeed! We headed to a park in Pacific Palisades, about 40 minutes from our house, for a picnic with the LA families with children adopted from Vietnam. We feel so lucky to have found this group and especially blessed to have met a family with Mia, their three year old daughter, that live about a mile away from us! Now Henry and Mia will be able to connect more than just a few times a year. She is a little spark plug, too!
After the picnic we came home, cooked out, did a little digging in the yard, and watched the fireworks...this was the first time we let Henry stay up late and watch the show from our driveway. He was excited! He'd point and say "2 fireworks" then point another way and say "2 more fireworks". (We can see multiple displays all over the LA basin from our driveway.)
Then he would cheer!! It was a fun, but long day! Henry (and Daddy) are fast asleep while I write.

Beach time with Zach

We met Zach at the beach today for a few hours. Lots of time making sand cars (as opposed to castles) with spoilers...multiple trips to get water from the waves...feeding the seagulls.
iphone photos aren't too bad!

Once again, Henry is eating. This boy loves food but doesn't gain an ounce!
