2 years 9 months

Dear Henry,
There seem to be so many changes with you lately, Henry. You are talking up a storm, and it's so much fun to have converstations with you. Daddy and I love to hear you hum the songs you are learning at school or just random melodies. You always get a juice box for each of us, not just for yourself.
One morning you walked into the kitchen and saw Henley's backpack, (She forgot to take it home with her the day before) walked over to it and said, "that's strange, what that doing here?"
One day you told me you had a ghost in your room so I told you that you didn't have to worry about it because I "kicked him out"...you thought that was hilarious and you laughed your wonderful laugh!
Whenever I am sitting at the table reading the paper you tell me that you want to look at some, too. So you sit in your chair and look at the sports page or car ads. You love your food..."oh!...muffin"; "mmmm...cookies, Henry likes cookies"; you say "eat yummy" whenever you are hungry; you love to eat margharita pizza, Cheerios, toast with jelly, and noodles; sometimes you get up in the morning, go over to the cupboard and pull out a box of cereal.
You are very efficient...when you are moving items into a container you start by moving one at a time but after a few of them, you figure out that it's much easier to just dump all of them into the container at once. One day you were transfering some pasta and when some of it spilled onto the floor, Cody came over and ate it. You cried and were very upset. Once you pulled yourself together you went over to show Cody where his food was and told him to eat it instead.
After you completed a new train puzzle you told me that "Percy was Thomas' best friend" ...I asked you who your best friend was, and you said "Mommy".
You love "knock, knock" jokes and tell them all the time. Of course they make no sense, but we laugh very hard every time you tell us one.
You still like every square of your waffle to have syrup. The other day, after all the syrup had soaked in, you told me that you needed more because it was"dried out".
You say, "i huff you, mama".
You've decide that it's better to sleep at the foot of you bed. You've been playing so hard some days that you fell asleep in these various positions:

Whale watching with Elizabeth. You said you saw three!

You and your pet lizard that lives free in our yard.

We love you!

The First Day of School

Today was Henry's first day back to preschool. He is in the same room with his teacher from last year, Miss Sue. I spent the day there with him, and it was fun to watch Henry jump right back into his routine. He knew where to go and how things operated...definitely a leader this year.
Right now he has four other kids in his class...only one little girl and ,again, like last year, the rest are boys! One of the little boys, Nate, is half Vietnamese. His dad came to America in 1975, when he was only six. We are looking forward to getting to know them better!
I'm sure we will see some changes in Henry's behavior as he adjusts back to the school routine...lots of runny noses and new behaviors. I hope he has a stronger immune system this year.

Henry and Henley

How cute are they?

Henley is one of our new campus friends, and she came over to play for most of the day today. She turns three next week. It was a busy time, as you'll see from the pictures. One of the best parts was listening to their conversation during lunch. Henry told Henley that his dad was camping. (Mark is on the 11th grade retreat this week so I just made it simple and told Henry that he was camping.)
Henley looked at me and asked, "Where is my dad?" I told her that I thought he was at a meeting. Henry jumped in and said, "no, your daddy camping, too". They sat together at the table and actually waited until they both had eaten enough before getting up to play some more.
We are so happy that Henley is here!

"Dip it, Mama." Henry knows how to eat his cookies!

Listening to one of Elmo's stories with my mother's helper, Grace.

I had a doctor's appt. today which lasted just under two hours. Henry was completely behaved the entire time. I decided to take him to Baskin Robbins for some ice cream afterward. He gave me the biggest smile when he walked over to the table, pulled out his chair and then went over to pull out mine before eating any of his ice cream! What a sweetheart!
