We did a few things to get Henry prepared for this day. First we went to a costume carnival at our church last weekend so he could see other kids wearing costumes. I had the hardest time getting Henry to put on his costume after buying it a few weeks ago. I tried putting it on myself, leaving it out with his toys, and making lots of tiger "roaring" sounds, but none of it worked. When we got to the carnival he was actually willing to put it on! so far so good...he just did not like wearing the hood for very long!
Last night we went to the Chadwick residence pot luck dinner and trick or treat outing. Henry was excited to get his costume on after seeing me in mine. I was a dragonfly, Mark was a cowboy and Bev (our friend visiting from WI, was Ernie.) We decided to practice trick or treating before leaving the house. I showed him how to go up to the door, knock and say "trick or treat". He watched and then did it on his own. He even said "thank you" after getting his candy.
Henry had a blast playing with the campus kids, especially Charlie, Kiera and Grace. We only made it to about four houses before calling it a night. Henry was quite tuckered out. This morning when he looked at the bowl of candy the first thing he wanted was the pretzels. Sounds about right...
