He definitely knows who his mom and dad are, he is still a little confused about his new world. He likes the dogs, usually, unless he is tired or hungry. He is learning how to pet them gently and the dogs are very patient with him. Kelly can't wait to sit and play with him. It sounds like he says "soft" when he pets them. He's actually more drawn toward Cody than Kelly.
It's hard to get Henry to sleep during the day. He doesn't want to miss a minute of life. I'm sure a lot of his unwillingness to sleep has to do with the fact that he must wonder if we will be here when he wakes up. He's has so many changes and has seen so many new people, it must be confusing. We are feeding him just before bed, and Mark started reading the Curious George series to him while I give him his bottle. He makes it through the nights by waking up 2 or 3 times. He rolls over on me, taps my back or snuggles closely. Sometimes he has a bottle, sometimes he doesn't. When he wakes up he starts the day by saying "da da da" in a variety of tones or he starts babbling in a whisper.
Last night he stayed in bed for 10 hours...didn't sleep 10 hours, but stayed in bed and didn't cry.
He likes bananas now with a little oatmeal mixed in, he loves Cheerios, chicken, and cheese. I hear "mmmm" and see his head nodding up and down after he takes his first or second bite of food. Henry wants to feed himself so we each hold a spoon. I can usually get about 5 or 6 spoonfuls of food into his mouth until he realizes that his spoon is not doing the work. Then he takes over. He dips his spoon into the cereal and gets a little bit into his mouth, but then moves to his hands. Tonight he had one Cheerio stuck to his left hand, he moved it over to his right hand, back and forth multiple times. He finally got frustrated, started shaking both his hands and then put the Cheerio in his mouth. It's so much fun to watch him and his thought process.
He's recently discovered sticks to play with outside, he doesn't like the way grass feels and will do anything he can to avoid touching it. He actually used his ball and leg to get up after he fell so he wouldn't have to touch it. He loves his stroller and usually wants it to go faster.
Paul and Jan came up on Sunday to meet Henry.
Mark introduced Henry and me to the high school at assembly on Monday. Henry sure knows how to handle a crowd. When we came out, everyone cheered, and Henry looked up and walked around as if it were a typical day.
He had his new friend, Olivia, over the other day. Henry sure loves kids!
off to bed!

Henry was adorable at the assembly!! He instantly charmed about 300 big "brothers and sisters!"
It sure sounds and looks like he is adjusting well! Have fun!
I keep giggling at the 3rd picture of Henry in the highchair. He kind of has Dad's hair in it, don't you think? So cute!
